Usama Javed Sheikh is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Connecticut. He completed his Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Pakistan in 2017, followed by a degree in Business Management from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Pakistan in 2019. In 2021, he obtained a certificate in Business and Entrepreneurship from the Stanford School of Business, USA.

Mr. Sheikh is a experienced entrepreneur with over five years of experience in managing two startups focused on wastewater treatment and natural hygiene solutions. In recognition of his entrepreneurial achievements, he received the prestigious Pakistan Presidential Award in 2021. His areas of expertise include business development and lead generation, complemented by his deep knowledge of research and development.

Driven by his passion for solving real-world problems, Mr. Sheikh joined Dr. Jeffrey McCutcheon's research group in the fall of 2022. Since then, he has been actively involved in developing chlorine-tolerant membranes for water treatment by electrospray.
