Undergraduate
Colin Fitzsimonds belongs to Dr. McCutcheon research group. He is a fourth-year undergraduate student in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department. An interest in engineering to benefit the environment brought him to the University of Connecticut to study chemical engineering. He joined Dr. McCutcheon’s group due to the cutting edge, membrane-based research being done. In this research lab his main focus is in the study of a hybrid forward osmosis system and its auto-regulatory behavior, with a goal of the technology being used to lower the carbon footprint of the water treatment process.
